Rockout With Your Cookout Returns For BLP 11th Anniversary

We’re bringing IT back! After a looong hiatus, the Sunday evening RWYC at the Hurricane is making it’s return to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Brotherly Love Productions with members of The Heavy Pets, GuavatronFuguFranscene and others TBA!

Sunday 7/1
Rockout With Your Cookout
Hurricane Bar & Lounge
6-8pm: FREE Cookout (feel free to contribute)
8-11pm: FREE Rockout (hawt jamz)

The BLP Rockout With Your Cookout was a weekly event that started in December of 2010 and ran through March of 2013. If you wandered through the Cane on a Sunday during that time period, you may have witnessed nationally touring acts like DopapodThe Dead Kenny G’s, members of LettuceStokeswood, JimkataBIG SomethingThe MantrasSpiritual Rez or local talent like The ResolversFUSIK, Ketchy Shuby, The Short Straw Pickers, Aquaphonics, Cypress, countless side-projects of The Heavy Pets and, honestly, who knows who else. Each evening started with a FREE cookout serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken breasts, turkey burgers, veggie burgers and whatever anyone else contributed for the bar patrons. Then we followed the feast with legendary performances in the intimate dive bar setting. The only Sundays we ever skipped were the Super Bowls. It was the anchor event of the early BLP years where many South Florida live music fans got to know each other.

Since announcing this show, we are saddened to share that the original owner of the Hurricane and partner in our Rockout With Your Cookouts, Pasqual Ranich aka Squally, has lost his brief battle with cancer. This event is now dedicated to him…longtime live music supporter, BLPfam from day 1, mentor and friend. Rest In Peace Squally. #forsqually

Named by Dan Sweeney from City Link (RIP) and the Sun Sentinel as the Best Local Music Night: “For just over a year now, Brotherly Love Productions has presented a cookout/local music fiesta at Delray Beach’s Hurricane Bar. Occasionally, they’ve gotten some regional acts on the stage, but mostly, they just keep cranking out some of the best jam, funk and reggae acts in South Florida. The event is particularly noteworthy for welcoming shows from budding side projects, such as the Heavy Pets’ Lather Up! and Fat Mannequin and local reggae act the Resolvers’ Royal Majestic Trio. Just show up at 6 p.m. on any given Sunday, and music and food are yours for the taking.”
